Flaming Piano Key Pendant
Actual ebony piano key from old piano
Hand carved with stylized flame motif
Green dot pattern, coloured with acrylic, mirrors flame action and provides a bit of colour in contrast to the lustrous blackness
Adjustable polyester cord (black, 24") hand braided in Kumihimo style with hand carved wood cinch bead that slides to preferred necklace length
Silver chain (16”, 18" 20") also an option
Carving measures 3/8" across, 3 5/8" tall and 1/2" thick
About 20 years ago, this beautiful, upright grand, Victorian piano from the Richmond Piano Co. came into my possession.
It was very old, from the late 1800s, and in poor condition.
Still, it was the right price (free!) and it played.
My daughter used it for her piano lessons for many years, in fact.
As she improved, her teacher suggested we get it tuned.
We learned that the piano was so old that it was considered "untunable".
The piano was literally falling apart by then, so we encouraged it along, saving the most ornate parts, including the keys.
I've got 36 black keys that I've been making into pendants in various ways over the years.
My daughter still plays the piano, but a new one by now.
